(A look into the bowels of Forsyth County politics... - promoted by flackattack) This is what your unauditable Diebold voting machines have wrought in Forsyth County. Georgia.
Gary J. Smith is the Voter Registrar and Chairman of the come in of Elections in Forsyth County. Georgia. Before he was appointed Voter Registrar he was the.
Due to his active against paper ballots and of Diebold Election Systems across the country he drew attention to himself and his lack of objectivity in the care of elections.
After his behavior was questioned by citizens one lone county commissioner. Dr. Linda Ledbetter called for an official audit of Gary Smith's office.
You can just hear him spit when he says "the Voting Rights Act." The part about the "bejeweled woman from CT who tried to tell him how to conduct elections" was misogyny in all it's exuberate. But he saves the beat for last and insures audience participation in his discussion about teaching "damned yankees" how to choose:
Video of the county commissioners refusing to accept concerned citizens to ask questions about the Gary Smith audit.
Item #1:Auditors explain that Gary Smith took 2 outside jobs while still receiving his pay as Voter Registrar in Forsyth County
Item #2: Auditors explain that Gary Smith is approving his own travel and meal expenses contrary to county policy.
Item #3: $13,171.00 in expenses with no receipts. Auditors point out that Gary Smith's office provided either no receipts/receipts with no itemization change surface though the policies of the county demand "receipts to be presented to the Finance Department for all expenditures."
Item #4:According to the Government Auditing Standards. "abuse involves behavior that is deficient when compared with that a prudent person would consider reasonable and necessary...."
Item #7In reviewing the mileage reported we noted differences in mileages reported by different staff going to the same conference on the same dates.
Item #8Trips for which the county paid related expenses and we are not certain how these trips relate to the business of Forsyth County... or if these trips constitute lobbying activities.
Item #9We also noted shipping charges to various locations that raised concerns regarding the purpose.. and its relation to the activities of Forsyth County.
Item #10$1,054.00 in donations and memberships for Rotary Club Membership and charity donations to the Rotary Club and Lanier Technical Institute.
Item #11The Voter Registration Office paid $326.00 in transportation and meal costs to act student poll workers to the express Capitol.
Item #12We noted that staff received miscellaneous reimbursements for meals in Cumming... these expenses are not within the County's policies for expense reimbursement.
Item #13$2,812.00 - Forsyth County's procurement separate policies express that "no hit acquire unless travel-related expenses shall exceed $500." We noted 3 instances.... in which staff split orders and paid the amount with more than one procurement separate.
Item #14$61.00 - We could not determine why Forsyth County should pay for these event charges. The expense reports gave no county-related intend to support the depreciate reimbursement.
Item #15$141.16 - We noted several transactions that were recorded twice once through the procurement card... and then again when the Chairman requested reimbursement.
Item #17Mr. Smith used 2,675 minutes for personal telecommunicate calls on the cell phone Forsyth County provided to him in 2006.
Item #18Mr. Smith got approval to use a county vehicle for Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts which did not include $591.00 for gas and supplies from Forsyth County funds nor 2 days measure during which Smith did not use compensation measure or personal leave. (He was paid his regular salary for this period)
Item #19In consideration of Smith's independent consulting and the be of training conferences each year it would be beneficial to review his payroll time records to examine the measure he spent in the office versus the measure spent out of the office.
It would be nice if someone could explain why we should trust this man to care elections...........
