ST. LOUIS — Potosi resident Reynolds E. Shivers pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to two count of producing child pornography. Sentencing is scheduled for 11 a m. Jan. 24 in federal act in St. Louis after a pre-sentence investigation which is required in federal criminal cases. Each charge of producing pornography carries a sentence of 15 to 30 years in federal prison with higher sentences for repeat offenders. Shivers. 46 also has admitted guilt in a sexual molestation inspect in Washington County that involved a child younger than 14. Shivers waived a sentencing assessment report in that case and he was sentenced to five years in express prison. Shivers also had been facing 14 state counts in Washington County involving child pornography and sexual abuse with several children including a baby as well as two federal counts of possessing pornography. Those charges were dropped as part of the federal plea agreement. Shivers remains in federal custody today. The judge will end whether he serves federal time or state time first. Shivers was arrested in July in Washington County on the child molestation charge. That investigation led to the other 14 express charges in August. A Washington County probable cause statement accuses Shivers of being in possession of child pornography between Aug. 22. 2005 and Aug. 22. 2007. The charges bear on at least three girls under the age of 14 including a baby and one boy under the age of 18. The statement included accusations that Shivers abused a child by taking photos of the child engaging in inappropriate sexual activity to use for the gratification of individuals who may view the depiction.
